UPCOMING EVENT ---- Christmas

The main message behind our celebrations for Christmas at NISL is that it is a time for giving and sharing. We therefore organise a charity drive where students fill a bag each for a less privileged child of the same age. We also have a crafts circuit where we make three different Christmas decorations per child to decorate a dinner suite where we all eat a Christmas Dinner together on the evening before the end of term. The students (and parents in fact) wear their fanciest, smartest clothes and thoroughly enjoy a candle lit evening on school grounds full of “glitz and glamour”. This main celebration evening usually ends with a show where each class performs a song or dance; alongside the Christmas Choir and whole school performance. Christmas would not be Christmas without Santa sitting in his grotto for a photograph with each student. Let’s hope we have been good this year so he pays us a visit again!

RECENT EVENT ----Sinterklaas

The NISL is originally a Dutch school. This is why one of the biggest events in the Netherlands on the NISL is the arrival of Sinterklaas at school end of November. A day where he is welcomed by many children. December 5th we celebrate the actual birthday of Sinterklaas in school with singing, getting presents a whole lot more. Although he looks a bit like Father Christmas or Santa Claus, ‘Sinterklaas’ (Saint Nicholas) is a very Dutch character loved by children and adults alike. His annual arrival and parade in the Netherlands. And also the traditional festivities that follow are a real treat! For more information about Sinterklaas please check this website. http://www.stnicholascenter.org/pages/netherlands/
